Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Getting StartedWhat should I observe about sunlight before selecting a spot?

Choose full sun for good mango growth and reliable flowering and fruit production. A spot that receives direct sun for most of the day is preferable to one shaded by buildings or larger trees. A mango may remain leafy in less light without producing a good crop. Move a shade-grown nursery tree into stronger sun gradually so its tender foliage has time to adjust.

Visit the proposed location at different times of day and repeat the check when seasonal shadows change. Include neighboring trees and buildings in your notes, not only shade present at noon. Mango production benefits from full sun, so a bright-looking gap deserves closer inspection. Photograph the same view on each visit to make gradual shading easier to recognize before you commit to planting.
