Mango Varieties & IdentificationDoes the word variety always mean a documented mango cultivar?
Growers often use variety informally for a named cultivar, a local type, or simply a tree with distinctive fruit. Ask what the speaker means before adding the term to a record. Keep the exact supplied wording and record whether it refers to a traceable propagated selection. This prevents an informal description from gaining the appearance of a verified cultivar identity when it is repeated later.
