Mango Varieties & IdentificationHow is a cultivar's origin different from the place its fruit was grown?
Origin may describe where a selection was developed or first documented, while a fruit's growing location describes that particular crop. Record both when known, with their sources. A tree can be propagated and grown far from the place associated with its cultivar history. Confusing those fields can make imported fruit or an introduced tree appear to be a new local cultivar without evidence of a separate selection.
