Mango Varieties & IdentificationDoes an unusual fruit prove that a mango branch is a new sport?
An unusual sample is a reason to document the branch, not enough to establish a stable new selection. Check maturity, damage, and whether the branch belongs to a different graft before considering that explanation. Follow later fruit on the same branch and compare it with the rest of the tree. A specialist can help decide whether repeated differences justify further investigation of a possible sport.
