Mango Varieties & IdentificationWhat is the difference between a mango stone and the seed inside it?
The hard or fibrous covering commonly called the pit or stone is not the same structure as the seed it encloses. State which part you photographed or measured so comparisons do not mix a whole stone with an exposed seed. Label internal images to preserve their connection to the original fruit. Clear terminology is especially useful when discussing embryo type, which cannot be inferred simply from the stone's outer shape.
