Young-leaf coloration is a descriptive trait, but the stage of expansion must be comparable. Photograph the same flush as it develops and note when the leaves were still soft versus fully expanded. Keep these images separate from mature-leaf records. A reddish or pale flush can be informative within a combined profile, yet color shared by many plants is insufficient evidence for a specific cultivar name.
