Read the table's notes to establish whether a blank means unmeasured, unavailable, inapplicable, or something else. Do not convert missing information into a claim that the trait is absent or that a tree failed to produce it. Keep the original notation when extracting the record. This is especially important in limited field surveys, where different accessions may not have supplied comparable samples during the observation period.
