Growing & Tree CareWhat are the rings visible along a mango shoot, and do they matter when pruning?
The rings mark boundaries between growth flushes and can contain closely grouped buds. A cut near a dense bud ring may produce a crowded cluster of replacement shoots. Inspect the stem before choosing a training cut, rather than measuring from the ground alone. Follow-up shoot selection matters as much as the initial cut when the aim is a well-spaced framework.
