Do not assume roots end at the drip line. Mature mango roots can extend beyond the canopy, so nearby trenching, paving, and landscape changes may affect the tree even outside its shade. Map the proposed work against the whole root environment before digging. For substantial construction, involve an arborist early enough to alter the design rather than assessing severed roots afterward.
