Both may be relevant when an acidic soil needs correction, but dolomite also supplies magnesium. Use magnesium status and the laboratory's amendment recommendation to guide the choice. A yellow canopy alone does not establish that either material is needed. Applying dolomite routinely where magnesium is already adequate can complicate nutrient balance without resolving the original reason the tree is performing poorly.
