Phosphorus is essential, but an established supply in soil does not become inadequate merely because a tree is young or growing slowly. Test before adding large amounts and consider whether root conditions are limiting development. High phosphorus can contribute to zinc-availability problems. A product marketed for rooting should therefore be evaluated against the actual soil need rather than treated as a necessary step for every mango.
