Grafting & PropagationWhat are the rootstock and scion on a grafted mango?
The rootstock supplies the root system and lower stem, while the scion supplies the selected canopy. Their joining point is the graft union. This distinction matters whenever you evaluate new growth: a shoot below the union belongs to the rootstock, even if its leaves resemble the desired mango. Keep a record of both components rather than labeling the entire plant only with the scion name.
