Grafting & PropagationWhen should an approach-grafted mango be separated from its mother tree?
Separation follows establishment of the connection, rather than occurring immediately after the pieces are tied. The chosen approach-grafting procedure may use progressive cuts to transfer dependence to the new rootstock. Keep both plants supported during that transition and observe the scion's response. Avoid severing the mother connection simply because the scion remains green, since it may still be receiving support through the original branch.
