Grafting & PropagationCan insect damage to a new mango scion flush be mistaken for graft failure?
Yes, loss of tender leaves or the shoot tip can draw attention away from an otherwise intact union. Inspect the missing or injured tissue and look for feeding evidence before dismantling the graft. Check whether healthy buds remain and whether the stem above the union is still sound. Protect developing scion growth using locally appropriate nursery management, while keeping a separate record of mechanical or feeding losses and failed joining.
