Grafting & PropagationWhat should I do if a mango rootstock splits while the graft is being tied?
Stop and inspect how far the split extends instead of pulling the binding tighter. Determine whether a sound joining site remains or whether the stock needs recovery before another attempt. A split that prevents stable contact is not repaired merely by hiding it under tape. Review the wedge fit and the force used during insertion, then practice those steps on spare material before preparing another valuable scion.
