Grafting & PropagationWhy do ragged cuts reduce the quality of a mango graft?
Ragged or crushed surfaces are harder to fit closely and make the living edges difficult to align. A sharp blade and a supported stem help produce a clean surface without repeated scraping. If the first cut is unusable, assess whether enough sound material remains to remake it. Wrapping more tightly cannot reliably correct an irregular fit, and may damage the bark while leaving the underlying contact problem unresolved.
