Use material whose strength, flexibility, and removal behavior you understand. Purpose-made grafting bindings make those properties easier to anticipate than an unfamiliar household adhesive. Whatever material is chosen, it must hold alignment without damaging the growing stem or buds. Try it on expendable material first if necessary, and schedule inspection rather than assuming the tape will loosen or disappear at the correct stage by itself.
