Grafting & PropagationCan mango rootstocks be established in the orchard before they are grafted?
In situ grafting raises the rootstock at its intended field position and adds the selected scion after suitable growth develops. It avoids moving that established root system, but requires field access and aftercare for each new union. Protect scions from exposure and keep track of unsuccessful plants that need another decision. This is a planned establishment system, rather than simply planting unverified seedlings and postponing cultivar choice indefinitely.
