Grafting & PropagationWhat if the mango rootstock grows but the scion stays dormant?
Trace the active shoots to determine whether only the rootstock is growing. Inspect the scion for firmness and bud condition without repeatedly opening the union. Manage competing sprouts and review whether the retained stock top has been handled correctly for that graft type. Rootstock growth shows that part of the plant is active, but it does not by itself prove either that the scion is dead or that its union is sound.
