A visible change in diameter is not enough to diagnose incompatibility. Consider whether the union is intact, whether growth above it remains healthy, and whether there is cracking, constriction, or progressive decline. Take repeat photographs from the same angle to document change. If symptoms persist, have the combination assessed rather than assigning a cause from a single close-up of an otherwise vigorous young tree.
