Inspect the stem base and roots rather than assuming that the scion-to-stock connection failed first. Mango nursery diseases can damage tissues near soil level and cause an entire grafted plant to decline. Separate affected plants and obtain a diagnosis with intact symptoms available for examination. Review media, drainage, and watering across the affected lot; repeating the graft above an unhealthy stem would leave the underlying problem unresolved.
