Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Flowering & PollinationDo mango trees have separate male and female plants?

A mango tree normally carries male and bisexual flowers within its flower clusters, so it is not managed as separate male and female trees. A nonflowering plant cannot be classified as male because it has not produced fruit. First determine whether it has formed panicles at all. That observation directs attention toward flowering conditions or flower function instead of replacing a tree on the basis of an incorrect sex label.
