Flowering & PollinationIs flowering the same process as pollination?

Flowering produces the structures that make reproduction possible; pollination moves pollen to a receptive female surface. A tree can complete the first step without completing the second effectively. Begin a diagnosis by asking whether panicles formed, whether functional flowers opened, and whether pollen-carrying insects could reach them. Keeping those observations separate prevents a lack of flowers from being treated as a shortage of pollinators.
