Flowering & PollinationWhat is the difference between a pollinator and a pollenizer in mango growing?
A pollinator is an organism that transfers pollen, usually an insect in mango production. A pollenizer is a plant supplying suitable pollen. Adding a pollen source does little if insects cannot move between its flowers and the receiving tree. Use these terms separately when discussing an orchard problem, so a recommendation to add another variety is not confused with a recommendation to improve insect access or habitat.
