Flowering can progress across clusters and canopy sections rather than occurring as one simultaneous event. Record the start, main bloom, and ending period separately. A tree that looks sparse on one inspection may still be developing later panicles. For monitoring insects or weather effects, specify which stage was present, because an observation made before many flowers open cannot describe the pollination conditions of the whole bloom period.
