Flowering & PollinationShould mango leaves be stripped off to encourage flowering?
Routine defoliation is not a substitute for allowing healthy shoots to mature. Leaves support the tree and participate in the processes associated with flowering, so removing them indiscriminately can undermine the canopy you are trying to prepare. Leave healthy foliage in place while assessing shoot age and seasonal conditions. Treat a specialized experimental defoliation procedure as a separate technique requiring evidence, rather than an ordinary backyard bloom practice.
