Flowering & PollinationIs mango flower nectar the same thing as pollen?
Nectar is a liquid food reward, while pollen consists of grains involved in reproduction. Insects can seek either resource, and their feeding position affects whether they touch reproductive structures. Watch where a visitor places its body rather than assuming every feeding visit transfers pollen. Distinguishing the two resources also helps describe an observation accurately when an insect is feeding but no visible pollen is apparent.
