Fruit Development, Ripening & HarvestHow can wind damage be separated from unexplained mango drop?
Inspect soon after the event for broken stalks, torn leaves, rubbing marks, and a heavier concentration of losses on exposed edges. Compare those trees with sheltered areas and record whether fruit were already dropping beforehand. Wind can cause major losses, but an event may coincide with existing disease or physiological shedding. Preserving the spatial pattern is more informative than counting fallen fruit alone.
