Size varies with variety and growing conditions, so two equally large mangoes may not have reached the same developmental stage. Inspect fullness and internal development rather than treating a market size grade as a maturity test. For an unfamiliar seedling tree, keep early sample fruit separate and observe their eventual eating quality before picking the rest of the crop.
