Use a picking method that supports the fruit and separates the stalk without tearing the peel. Cutting with suitable secateurs or a purpose-designed picking head gives more control than a forceful tug. Plan where the fruit will go immediately afterward, because stalk removal can release sap. Practice on reachable fruit before attempting a high or awkward picking position.
