Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Flavor, Quality & StorageCan microwaving turn a hard mango into a properly ripe one?

Heating can soften or cook tissue, but it is not a substitute for the coordinated biological changes of normal ripening. For a sound, intact mango, use suitable room-temperature conditions and assess its progress. Choose fruit already at the needed stage when preparation time is fixed. Treat a heated mango as a cooked ingredient rather than evidence that an unripe fruit has developed normal ripe flavor.
