External inspection cannot reveal every internal disorder or accurately describe the eating quality of an entire lot. Cut representative fruit and record flesh condition, color, texture, and any abnormal areas. Keep results linked to the original lot rather than combining unrelated samples. Include fruit that look typical, since selecting only visibly damaged specimens cannot show how widespread a hidden problem may be.
