Anthracnose becomes a stronger suspect when dark lesions appear across flower clusters following wet weather and affected flowers collapse. Compare newly affected panicles with healthy ones instead of judging only old, dried flower stalks. Note whether young fruit or tender leaves also have lesions. Preserve representative material before spraying, because bloom failure can have several causes and a completely dead cluster offers fewer diagnostic clues.
