Pests, Diseases & DisordersWhat distinguishes mango scab from fruit rot that expands after harvest?
Scab leaves persistent surface scars, whereas an active rot can continue enlarging as harvested fruit ripens. Keep a few affected fruit labeled and photograph changes rather than judging them from one moment. Scab and another disease can occur on the same fruit, so a rough scar does not explain every later soft area. Commercial growers should identify the source of rejection before changing a disease program or grading standard.
