Pests, Diseases & DisordersWhy is tender mango growth important when scouting for scab?
Young leaves, shoots, and small fruit provide useful places to look for new scab injury. Old scars can remain after the period when the original damage occurred, making a mature leaf a poor guide to current activity. Compare successive flushes and label photographs by growth stage. This helps determine whether the problem is continuing, and avoids treating a canopy merely because last season's damaged leaves are still attached.
