Pests, Diseases & DisordersWhy is mango fruit rotting first around the stem attachment?
Stem-end rot is one possibility when decay starts at the stalk end during ripening. Record whether the fruit was wounded, whether the stalk was torn off, and how long symptoms took to appear. Keep this pattern separate from scattered skin lesions when estimating losses. A packing operation should have representative fruit examined before assuming that a treatment used for anthracnose will adequately address the stem-end problem.
