Pests, Diseases & DisordersCould pitted skin and uneven mango ripening be a storage disorder?
Yes. Chilling injury can cause pitting, abnormal skin color, and uneven ripening, sometimes becoming clearer after fruit returns to warmer conditions. Review the fruit's temperature history alongside photographs of lesions. Keep affected lots identified by storage location and handling date. A decay organism may subsequently occupy injured tissue, so finding mold later does not establish that infection was the only problem at the start.
