Pests, Diseases & DisordersCan mango leafhoppers damage flowers as well as leaves?
Yes. Mango leafhoppers can feed on plant tissues and flowers, so inspect panicles when hoppers are suspected during bloom. Collect insects from affected and unaffected growth and record whether withering precedes or follows their appearance. Hoppers seen on a tree are not by themselves proof of the cause of poor fruit set. Identification and a comparison of damage across the canopy make a treatment decision more defensible.
