Search for active chewing insects and photograph the shape of fresh damage before the leaf expands further. The Sri Lankan weevil is one mango foliage feeder documented in Florida, but notches do not identify a species by themselves. Check plants nearby to learn whether the feeding is confined to mango. For a small nursery tree, document loss of new foliage rather than judging severity from the number of insects alone.
