A trap records insects responding to that lure at that location; it does not directly measure the fraction of damaged fruit. Check which species and sex the lure attracts and inspect fruit as a separate part of monitoring. Keep trap positions and servicing consistent so trends are interpretable. Use a locally designed trapping program when market certification is involved, since an improvised garden trap cannot establish official pest freedom.
