Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Pests, Diseases & DisordersWhat makes a red-banded caterpillar inside a mango important to report?

Distinctively banded larvae tunneling toward the seed can indicate red banded mango caterpillar, a pest with particular regional biosecurity significance. Photograph the larva before disturbing it and record where the fruit was grown, not just where it was purchased. Keep suspect fruit contained while requesting identification. Avoid transferring fruit or seed waste to another garden, because a feeding record becomes much less useful if its origin is lost.
