Take a whole-tree view, a view of the affected branch, and a close view of the organism or lesion. Include a familiar scale reference without crushing the specimen, and photograph both sides of leaves. Keep images labeled by tree and date rather than combining unrelated injuries in one message. An image that shows the relationship between insect and damage is often more useful than a sharply focused insect with no plant context.
