Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Pests, Diseases & DisordersCould a tiny puncture surrounded by circular mango rot indicate fruit-piercing moth damage?

Fruit-piercing moth injury is one possibility when decay develops around a small puncture on ripening fruit. Inspect affected fruit and observe the tree after dark where these moths occur, photographing insects actually feeding. Adult moths can make the original wound; organisms or insects arriving later may enlarge the damage. Distinguish that sequence from larvae tunneling inside fruit before selecting a management approach for the pest responsible.
