Do not use freezing exposure as a conditioning treatment. Mango should not be assumed to develop the winter hardiness of a temperate fruit tree, and repeated exposure can simply add injury. Gradual adjustment to sunlight or a nursery environment is a different process from acquiring freeze tolerance. Plan shelter or another protection method before cold arrives, rather than using leaf damage as the signal that hardening has gone far enough.
