Climate, Cold & Container GrowingWhy is the bottom of a slope a risky place for a mango?
Low areas can collect cold air, so a tree there may experience more severe conditions than one on nearby higher ground. Look for barriers that trap that air and compare measured temperatures at tree height. Also inspect the site's drainage after rain. If the low area combines cold exposure with poor drainage, choosing another position is more dependable than trying to compensate with a heavier winter cover.
