Yes. The absence of an ice coating is not proof that damaging temperatures did not occur. Check recorded conditions and inspect the tree as symptoms develop rather than using visible frost as the only trigger for concern. Protected and exposed leaves may also experience different conditions on the same night. Keep notes on wind and cloud cover to help interpret the pattern after the event.
