The plant may receive an uneven distribution of light from the window and fixture together. Compare the lit area with the full canopy, including lower branches and shoots outside the lamp's footprint. Adjust placement before repeatedly cutting away the side that grows toward the light. Keep a photograph of the arrangement when comparing later growth, because moving either the tree or the fixture changes the conditions being evaluated.
