Direct sun on a dark container can create different conditions from those in a lighter, opaque container or a shaded pot wall. Compare root-zone exposure before changing the light available to the entire canopy. An outer shield can be considered if it preserves drainage and airflow and remains secure. Check its effect during hot weather rather than assuming that changing color alone has solved every source of heat stress.
