Mango FAQ

1 FAQ

Seeds, Rootstocks & BreedingIs the woody mango stone the same thing as the seed?

The hard, fibrous stone encloses the seed rather than being the living seed itself. Opening it can reveal the kernel and make damage or deterioration easier to inspect before sowing. Keep the distinction clear in nursery records: count fruit stones received, kernels accepted, and seedlings established separately. A sound-looking outer husk does not prove that the enclosed seed is healthy or capable of germinating.
