Seeds, Rootstocks & BreedingWhat should I do with a mango kernel that is soft and visibly decaying?
Discard a clearly decaying kernel instead of placing it among valuable nursery material. Examine other seeds from the batch and review whether prolonged storage, injury, or persistently wet conditions could have contributed. Keep a count of rejected kernels so the final establishment percentage has a meaningful denominator. Repeated losses deserve investigation of the collection and handling process before another large batch is started.
